This incredible feat of human engineering, which opened to the public in 2007, provides visitors to the Grand Canyon with an unprecedented perspective of the massive gorge. At a price of over $31 million, the horseshoe-shaped catwalk is capable of supporting 800 visitors at once (only 120 are permitted at a time for safety), withstanding 100 MPH winds, and surviving earthquakes measuring up to 8.0 on the Richter scale.
The Skywalk extends out into the air almost 4,000 feet above the canyon floor. For reference, see the below diagram.
